Eden Landscaping is proud to have recently partnered with Ashford Tidy Towns on the revitalisation of a long-neglected area at the heart of the village. This initiative was led by Ashford Tidy Towns Chairman, Eamonn, and long-standing community member, Pat Doyle, whose vision was to reimagine the space and restore it to something of lasting benefit to residents and visitors alike.

The site in question had posed challenges for many years. Located between two main roads, it was both hazardous and labour-intensive to maintain. During the summer months, upkeep was required as often as every ten days, with additional maintenance necessary throughout the winter. While Eden Landscaping had previously undertaken the care of this area, its location and demands ultimately proved unsustainable.

The presence of a large building site opposite further diminished the appeal of the space, creating an environment that felt drained and overlooked. It was this context that inspired the project: to design a scheme that would not only reduce maintenance but also enhance the visual impact of the area, foster biodiversity, and reinstate a sense of pride in the village.

The approach centred on preserving the character of the site while introducing features that would provide longevity and ecological value. The original stone wall was carefully retained and complemented by a new raised planter constructed with wooden sleepers. Planting was selected to deliver year-round interest, remain pollinator-friendly, and significantly reduce the need for ongoing intervention.

The completed project has been met with overwhelmingly positive feedback from local residents, who have welcomed the transformation of what was once a forgotten and difficult-to-manage corner into an attractive, community-focused feature.

At Eden Landscaping, we believe projects of this nature are of particular importance. They not only enhance the visual identity of a place but also contribute to community wellbeing, biodiversity, and long-term sustainability. It is our privilege to work alongside groups such as Ashford Tidy Towns to deliver improvements that will be enjoyed by all for many years to come.
